The main use was for the Midtown Harbour tourist and departure area of the game map.

PROPS Designer | 15 Years of Experience

As a PROPS Designer with 15 years of experience, I have contributed to the design and creation of props for various game projects, gaining extensive hands-on experience along the way. My work spans the entire process, from conceptual design to final implementation, and I am well-versed in adapting to the specific needs of different game styles and genres. Over the years, I have honed my skills in 3D modeling, texturing, and optimization, and I have developed a deep understanding of how props contribute to the atmosphere, player experience, and interactivity in games.

Project Experience:

  1. Project A
    Role-Playing Game
    In this project, I was responsible for designing and creating key props, including character equipment, weapons, loot boxes, and environmental props. I meticulously crafted these props using 3D modeling software and designed their textures and materials in detail. Each prop was designed to align with the characters and environment, while also being compatible with the game’s physics system to ensure interactivity and usability within the game world.

  2. Project B
    First-Person Shooter
    In this project, I focused on designing and implementing weapon props. From initial concept sketches to final 3D models, I worked on creating impactful weapon designs with attention to detail, such as material gloss, engravings, and wear-and-tear effects. I also closely collaborated with the programming team to ensure that the props were fully integrated with the game’s physics and animation systems, making the weapons both visually striking and functionally realistic in the game.

  3. Project C
    Open-World Adventure Game
    For this project, I was responsible for a wide range of environmental props, including buildings, furniture, plants, and various interactive items. To enhance immersion, I paid special attention to how each prop blended seamlessly with its surroundings. Additionally, I worked on optimizing these props to ensure they loaded smoothly in large open-world environments without negatively affecting game performance.

Work Insights:

Over the past 15 years, I’ve come to realize that, as a PROPS Designer, it’s not just about mastering modeling and texturing. A key aspect of my work involves understanding how props fit within the overall game world. Each prop is not just a standalone object; it needs to integrate with the characters and environment, adding depth and life to the game. I’ve learned to adjust my designs based on the game type and style, ensuring that props not only meet artistic requirements but also enhance the player's immersion.

Moreover, effective communication and collaboration with the programming and art teams are essential. Through close coordination, I ensure that props perform optimally within the game world and resolve any technical challenges that may arise. In some projects, I’ve also had to optimize props to ensure smooth performance across various platforms without compromising their visual quality.

Overall, being a PROPS Designer has taught me that prop design is not just an extension of art creation, but a critical component of gameplay and player experience. Moving forward, I aim to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity and technical expertise, striving to create more refined and impactful game props.
